2013 – Canyonlands, Moab, UT

JAR/MMR Moab finish

Jennifer and Mike Roberts

Under ideal conditions of 50s-60s weather in the red rock country of southeastern Utah, three Team Ladera runners did well in their respective races.

Susan Warner had a half marathon time of 2:16 and was 54 of 126 in 50-54 age group.

Jennifer Roberts had a 5 mile time of 51:27 and was 12 of 54 in 50-54 age group.

Mike Roberts, fighting the last of a nasty cold, finished the half in 2:28 and was 2 of 2 in 75-79, with the first place finisher 6 minutes ahead.

Steve Corbato, fighting the middle of a nasty cold, stayed in SLC and thought positive thoughts about Eugene, which is six weeks away.

Moab has become a center of outdoor activity, surrounded by national parks, and something challenging for everyone. Running, biking, climbing, hiking, ORV – that doesn’t exhaust the list.

The course is one way on highway 128 along the Colorado River north of town. On either side, red sandstone cliffs rise two or three hundred feet to the plateau above. Makes the small figures running along the water seem insignificant. (Unless you are down there hurting.)
