Mike coming down from Inspiration Point

On 9/30/06, MMR reported:

Mary and I ran the Lake Tahoe Half Marathon today as part of MMR training program for Athens. Thanks to rigorous training on the Portola loop, aided by SMATBRAW support as always, we did well. Mary, with a 2:01 half, was 2nd in her age group and only 4 minutes off the womens’s Masters winning time for the race. Mikey, with a 2:08 half, was first in his new age group – 70-79.

At 6500 feet, with two 600 ft hills in the way, we felt this was a good effort!

On to Athens – November 5!

P.S. This is a race week for serious jocks. A South African set a new world record for three consecutive marathons in three days, with times of 2:43/2:43/2:43. The triathlon bike ride around the lake – 72 miles – was won in 3:01!
