2012 – “DV East Solidarity” Half-Marathon

As reported by Greg Wood –

Congrats Team Ladera! Looking even perkier than before the race. You
must be training right.

The DV East Solidarity Half marathon was run here is DC today under
cold and cloudy skies. The run started from Clarendon, Arlington and I
was joined by a friend who agreed to join me (read: was dragged along)
to run and take pictures.

Always looking to take the easy way out, we aimed downhill, crossing
the Key bridge into Georgetown and then headed northwest along the C&O
canal. We cruised along the C&O canal tow path, turning around at Lock
6. We then paid the elevation debt beginning at mile 11 with the last
two miles climbing up from the Potomac to the the Arlington Courthouse
were a survival fest.

No official or unofficial overall time was kept, but GPS indicates we
averaged a 7:25 mile/min pace for the first 11 miles.

The depth of fatigue is clearly shown in the goofy finishing picture attached.

I’ll miss being with you in person to revel in the post-race glow, but
am with you in spirit!
